BOARD OF DIRECTORS |
President: Kathee McFarland The males in my family are veterans of Americas wars since, as far as I know, WWI. My sons are all either actively in the military or have served with the military. My son Riley has completed 2 tours in Iraq and a tour of duty in Afghanistan. I have spent the last 30 years nursing our veterans. Out of all the patients I've cared for, veterans are the most gracious, thankful and kind. I have witnessed the stumbling blocks our government puts in the veterans way so they cannot get the care or equipment they need in a timely manner. I've vowed to change that. That's what Car Show for the Vets is for......to give them help and hope. Vice-President/Public Information Officer: Hy Libby: My love of cars came to me somewhat late in life; but my respect for veterans runs long and deep. Members of my family have fought in every war in which our country has had a role - from before the American Revolution right up to the Iraq war.. Although I am not a veteran, that does not impair my ability to empathize with them and offer them unyielding support. Combining this with my enthusiasm for the automotive hobby has lead me to help form this organization. I'm an aging baby boomer with time and energy to give; this is my way of giving to those who have given for us all. Secretary-Treasurer: Ron Gonzales I've always been interested in cars, as long as I could remember. I wanted to be a NASCAR racer, but my mother was afraid of me crashing. So, I was showered with a lot of Hot Wheels cars instead (many of which I still have and have passed on to my son, Sasha to play with). Only recently, with the purchase of a PT Cruiser for my wife, Natasha, have I been involved in serious customizing of cars myself. After working for over 3 years on customizing her car, I am looking to start another custom vehicle project of my own. Cars must be in my blood, because my youngest brother, Andy, builds and shows custom Original Mini Coopers in Vancouver, Canada. My interest in being involved in Car Show for the Vets is a natural one due to my interest in show cars, and also my father is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 22 years. |
